Hello Sunday humans,
A little musing for you today . . . does it resonate?
Often what we need most is to turn towards ourselves with compassion. Often what we do instead is turn away from ourselves or turn against ourselves. What we may offer with ease to others can be harder to give to ourselves.
To be friendly with oneself, to have a dialogue that is supportive, even amusing, and encouraging, might come naturally. Perhaps on a long walk with no particular destination, daydreaming. Although in harder moments, moments of doubt or suffering, without even realising, our thoughts might be critical and harmful, when what we need most is compassion.
Self compassion is giving ourself the kindness we would give to others, treating ourselves with tenderness and acceptance.
Fortunately, a moment and another moment and another moment — with practice, can become a new habit, a new way. It’s never too late to experiment, to identify what’s not working for you, to break a circuit and create and reinforce a new neural pathway.
Go gently, with compassion,
Love,
Lou
Quote of the week:
What is happening in your innermost self is worthy of your entire love; somehow you must find a way to work at it.
― Rainer Maria Rilke
For you to reflect on and perhaps write in your journal:
How have I been speaking to myself lately?
If I spoke to myself and treated myself with compassion, what would I say and what would I do?
Design a daily self compassion ritual, a little something to remind yourself that you are on your own team
