Hello Sunday humans,
Summer solstice, the peak of light, intensity, earliest sunrise and longest day is complete for another year. Did anything arise within you? Such brightness and heat can illuminate, frazzle, obscure or ignite sparks.
We long for summer and its light and warmth, its signal to luxuriate and go slow. Often, the sense of openness and opportunity is paired with an urge to make the most of it, to be social and enjoy to the maximum. We can each find our own sense of balance, peace and pace in this season, with awareness and intention.
Full bloom is necessarily temporary. As we are woven into and from the natural world, so we circle and cycle, ebb and flow, seed in winter and bloom into the light. If your inner wisdom is asking for quiet reflection, inspiration or deep rest this season, then that is your compass. Perhaps you are on the brink of a big change or transformation, what do you need to call in? and simultaneously, what do you need to let go of to make room for these new tributaries?
Too much of anything can leave us feeling out of balance, off kilter and rootless. To find balance, start exactly where you are. Take on step and then another, we experience the imbalance of the in between before finding ground again. Balance is non-linear and requires motion, bravely taking one step after another, experimentation. I observe it through my daughter, beginning to find her feet and balance — try, test, falter, try again, fall, rise.
Too much to do/hold/think/manage? We ‘grown-ups’ forget that rather than staring at the mountain and masterminding the journey, we might simply begin and take the first step. My little one eagerly reaches for index fingers to draw her up to stand, smiling proudly. And so, we too, can lean on others, share our wobbles, ask for support, start with one step and then another.
Just so. You are balancing already, balance is occurring from the inside out, it is not possible without intention, focus, trust and playfulness.
New terrain, blank page, new day — first step.
Love,
Lou
Quote of the week:
In order for me to write poetry that isn’t political. I must listen to the birds and in order to hear the birds the warplanes must be silent.
— Marwan Makhoul
For you to reflect on and perhaps write in your journal:
What would I like to call in for this next chapter? (i.e. trust, courage, motivation, rest, reflection)
What can I let go of? (i.e. self doubt, fear about xxx, a habit, a commitment or job, an unhelpful idea about myself)
